Max the Cat, Safe and Sound!

September 27, 2017

This cute guy, curled up in his carrier, is Max.  He’s one of our kitty clients. His mom, a lovely and charming woman, is having surgery, and she desperately needed someone to care for this handsome fella while she recovers.
The Phinney’s team that works in fostering and transporting pets stepped up to the plate and took quick action to help Max and his mom. Starr Maxwell transported Max on a moment’s notice (hence, his cute carrier!) to Lauren Terry, our Foster Coordinator.  Lauren, whose unofficial title should be “Resident Kitty Expert”, is currently caring for Max in her home, along with her own clowder of cats. Max’s mom can now recover from her surgery, confident that Max will be well cared for and ready to return to her when she’s well. What a weight off her shoulders!
All the pets Phinney’s helps have owners, and our goal is to help them stay together. Whenever there’s an emergency, our volunteers help transport their pets into fostering, take them home temporarily, and care for them as if they were their own. Many of those volunteer opportunities come up really quickly, as they are emergencies, and our volunteers are needed at a moment’s notice. If you are interested in becoming part of our transportation and/or foster programs, please let us know! You will quickly learn that it’s meaningful and rewarding work.
