Lilly … beautiful as ever!

March 10, 2017
This is Lilly the cat, folks! We’ve been helping Lilly’s dad take good care of her tiger-striped kitty for some seven years. Her dad had lost his cat for old age, which made him very sad. But he just couldn’t imagine being by himself all day, no cat in sight. Because of his health, dad was bedridden.
But dad couldn’t afford another cat. We talked, and since he was already a longtime Phinney’s client who could really use the companionship of another pet and make a kitty very happy, we brought him Lily, who desperately needed a new home.
Lilly lived with her dad in Boston for five years, until he needed to be moved permanently to a facility where he could get the health care he needed.

That’s when Lilly became one of our permanent fosters. Phinney’s continued helping Lily with food, meds and vet visits, and one of our wonderful volunteers took her in for good.

Lilly’s foster mom takes Lilly to see her dad regularly, and we wish you could see what it’s like to see those two together. Lilly jumps on dad’s bed and starts talking, as if updating him on the latest news out her window. Dad pets her fondly, and they spend their time enjoying each other peacefully.
They love each other so much. No doubt about that. And thanks to Phinney’s, our permanent foster parents, and the donors who sponsor Lilly through our Sponsor a Pet Program, we can beat the odds and keep this friendship going.
At Phinney’s we found out that if we try hard, we generally can make things happen — even the ones we might find impossible at first.
