Goodbye, dear Twinkie
Monday afternoon, our friends Elizabeth and her dog Morty and foster cat Teddy said a final goodbye to their beloved ginger tabby Twinkie. Twinkie was very old (almost 20-years-old) and had masses on her kidneys and intestinal lymphoma, and had started to fail quickly.
Dr. Jake Tealdi, an amazing veterinarian and supporter of Phinney’s Friends, came to their home, examined Twinkie and with caring kindness and compassion, euthanized her in her very favorite little basket, where she has been spending days and nights, not feeling well (she couldn’t eat or drink anymore).
Phinney’s Friends helped Elizabeth pay for the procedure, so Twinkie could be in peace during her final moments beside her family. Twinkie was unafraid and seemed not to suffer at all. She was in her home of many years with those who loved her, and whom she loved.
“We miss her terribly,” wrote Elizabeth to us today. “But if there is a heaven, I believe all the animals we have loved over the years are waiting there to greet us when our time is up. My goodness, the jumping, tail wagging, purring, lapping tongues… What a chaotic scene that will be!”
Until then, rest in peace dear Twinkie. We’ll always remember you.

A peaceful goodbye is a wonderful gift that every pet deserves. Rest easy Twinkie
Indeed, Starr. You said it all.
