Steve & Ash thank us for neuter surgery

October 19, 2012
Remember Steve from Salem? He broke his leg, and his landlord said he would be evicted if he didn’t get rid of his cat, Ash, or got him neutered ASAP. Lisa, his neighbor, who got lots of help from Phinney’s Friends in the past, called us to check if we could help him too.
We scheduled an appointment for Ash to be neutered at the MSPCA in Boston, and Steve found a way to get there at 8 a.m. He lives 30 miles away and has no money, so we were really happy to see him make a huge effort to keep his best friend. We paid the bill, and our volunteer Chris drove all the way from Boston to Salem to deliver Ash safely to his dad.
Here is a nice message we got from Steven this week.
Hello Starr, just wanted to thank you and the volunteers again. Ash is doing great and I’m so grateful for all the help. I can’t walk yet and it takes a toll mentally so having my best buddy lay with me is so important. If I get a settlement I want to donate some money to you guys and when I’m walking and driving I would like to give back and help in some way.  Thanks a million,  Steve n Ash :)
A big thank you to Lisa, who is a wonderful neighbor, to Starr, who got in touch with Steve and the MSPCA, and to Chris, who drove Ash in such short notice. You guys rock! It’s because of teamwork that we are able to save so many animals and make sure they stay with their loving owners. :-)
