Tips on spending less on pet care

September 30, 2012

The Wall Street Journal has just published an article with tips on how to save money on pet care. Here is a summary:

  • Read food labels. You may be paying more for specific wording, such as “premium”.
  • Look for lower prices for flea-and-tick protection products (the patent on one of the active ingredients used has expired). Try shopping on websites such as and—rather than at the veterinarian or a pet store.
  • When it comes to finding a vet, shop around.
  • Some animal shelters offer spaying or neutering services free or at a discount.
  • Some towns host free vaccination clinics, especially for rabies.

Just love getting all the latest news from Phinney’s Friends. In this difficult economic world we live in, all I can say is, “Thank You Phinney,’s Friends, for helping our ‘best friends’ stay in their Forever Homes . Without your kind work there would be many hearts broken.
